Storing fuel
Storage
of fuel is required to buffer variations in utilisation and supply. It
is an area that is often underestimated in the costing of bioenergy
installations.
Points to consider in implementing storage facilities are:
- Weather protection, in particular moisture-content control.
- Storage capacity for continuity of operation.
- Suitability of storage medium, i.e. if silo need to guarantee freedom from bridging.
- On-site footprint.
- Infeed/outfeed control and method.
- Capital cost.
- Operational costs.
