Reducing waste disposal costs
A
significant part of the wood processed through a sawmill does not end
up as a timber product. In some cases, up to a half of the processed
wood is not utilised as timber. This material is sawn, shaved or cut
off and therefore is comprised of many different forms. A large
propotion of this is usually sold on for other purposes. Avoiding the
high costs of disposing of the remaining waste to landfills is a
principal economic driver for new bioenergy plant.
